    Default having computer issues

i am typing this at work. my pc at home is having a crissis. i over clocked the memory the other day and i believe that i damaged a dimm in the process. will run for about 5 minutes then video lock up and the dreaded shut down. already checked the video card and it is fine. on board video does the same thing. rolled back all of the updates and drivers to a stable restore point. no luck. will remove all of the peripheals tonight but normally this is caused by bad video card (ruled out) or a bad ram chip.

well there is no shame for them as i got them when ddr2 first hit the scene. if it is the mother board north bridge i will switch to a new ddr3 board. hoping it is just a ramm module though.

so if you don't hear from me for a few days you will know what has happened. that should make a few happy for a while.

    Eric,
I had a very similar issue about a year ago. Changed the agraphometer to a different clock position and added a phrone to the leward vestude. Didn't work at first but then I rebooted it with my size 13 Florsheimes and it popped right into phase.

PS: I know, it took me a while to understand the tech talk too, but now, as you can see, I'm totally verplunken.

memtest 386+, follow instruction for the file you download. run on each memory module separately for a couple or 3 hrs to check for errors. or try using the computer with each memory module, like one at a time.

I can't say about fly fishing but there's a lot of feed lots in Kansas.

Hey Steve, the last time I learned anything about computers was in 1999. Kidibler pins aren't at all what they used to be. I used to know my way around a floppy disc, but no more.

Nighthawk...you are getting a lot of good advice here....probably worth about as much as mine.....but what Charlaine said....mine that did that was a laptop with fan vents ...when they got enough dust collected it would overheat...blowing the vents etc. clean would solve the problem....bottom line it could be an overheating issue.
