Thread: Got a pontoon again

    Default Got a pontoon again

Long story short, I purchased a Water Skeeter Rebellion pontoon a while back and made a dumb decision and sold it.
I was getting rid of some things on another website and this guy sends me an email stating he wants to trade my stuff for a pontoon, wow! I'm now the proud owner of a Water Skeeter Chetco along with aminnkota 36lb thrust trolling motor, new 125 amp hour marine deep cycle battery with case, battery charger and the pontoon even comes with a casting platform.

    I can say, I'm a happy guy

Pontoon Boats are one of the best ways to fish. And I think you have a really good one. Good kick fins will make your adventures even better. I personally prefer using pontoons for both still water and relatively slow moving river fishing. I would suggest that you don't use kick fins when you fish faster moving rivers. Use the oars. Kick fins are great for lakes and ponds but can lead to big problems on a fast moving river. River hydraulics have little sympathy for anyone. Just My Humble Opinion.
Where you go is less important than how you take the steps.

Actually she told me this time I shouldn't get rid of it (like the one I had before). I was just checking it out and put everything away until the next time I use it. I had to get use to rowing but after a short while it was easy. As soon as I register it I'll try out the trolling motor, hopefully I will be able to catch something from it.

    Martin,

Remember that if you use the motor in California waters, you must register the pontoon with DMV and then the registration numbers must be affixed to the craft and displayed according to regulations. I have encountered a few pontoon and float tube users with mounted motors who have found this out the hard way via citations issued by the Coast Guard, Harbor Police, Sheriffs deputies, or rangers.

Thanks Tailing loop. I already went to the dmv but didn't register it yet since right now I could use the exercise. I will later on.
