I think it really comes down to whether you will use the wading staff all the time, including hiking in to your spot, or just on an as needed basis. If it is on an as-needed basis then a folding model is for you. Personally I love my Folstaf but as you've already read Simms makes a good model too. If your staff will be used full-time then any kind of walking stick will work from a broom stick to a ski pole, whichever you choose make sure you tie a string to it and part of your gear or it will float away on you.

As far as fly boxes are concerned I much prefer boxes that are clear plastic. I want to see what I am looking for without having to open the box or little compartment and risk spilling everything or having my flies blow away. I've had good luck finding clear boxes with compartments at my local craft store. They have the added advantage of being much less expensive than a fly box from a tackle store.
