    Default Good deal on a staff

    I went to Cabela's today and picked up a Trekker Hiking Staff. It comes with 3 telescoping pieces and is adjustable to almost any desired length. I read the reviews and it seems that some folks have had a problem with the pieces locking up. I found that if you just keep turning the piece to be adjusted, it will eventually line up the keys and slots and return to the original storage length. When locked into the desired hiking length, they seem quite secure and stable. They retail for $29.99, but right now they are on sale for $9.99. They have a removable rubber tip that exposes a biting tungsten or carbide tip. They also have a removable snow cup. For those of us that waddle more than walk, like me, they should make for some great stability getting into and out of a pontoon boat, canoe or kayak. Here's the link;

    Hi Lotech;

    Thanks for the heads up. I been wanting an adjustable staff for some time. Just looked into Cabelas website and apparently they are not on sale in this side of the country. They are still listed at $29.99

    Just a reminder, hiking staffs are not wading staffs. The internal workings on hiking staffs may survive the rain but, they won't stand up to constantly being in water... (the voice of experience).

    I'm sure you're right but I'm planning on using mine just to insure my stability getting into and out of my pontoon boat. I'm unable to wade the rivers anymore so the pontoon is the next best thing. Most of my fishing time these days is going to be in stillwaters. I will surely miss the rivers though.
