Default LONG TIME CLEANING - Panfish - February 28, 2011

    LONG TIME CLEANING

Finally got everything cleaned. It took a long time to get all the fly lines cleaned. I had to take them off the reel and wash them for their full length. Then hang them to dry. I do use zip cast to clean them during the year, but that does not get them clean for their full length.

.....did all my reels the other evening while at work and yes getting the grit out and re-lubing makes a huge difference, tonight it will be all the rods....should take about 4 hours and then later this week I have about 20 lines to do....plus change backing on a few reels....but I will be ready for "ice-off" that will happen in a couple of weeks.

Neat trick for cleaning the corks is use a damp "Mr.CleanMagic Eraser"....Wow what a difference

Kettlefisher - I have been taking my rod into the shower with me and using using one of those kitchen things that has a sponge on one side and a harder plastic like finish on the other. That too will make soiled grips look almost new. I will have to give your MrClean a try. Sound interesting.

    Thanks, Tim

PS: Rick thanks for the article and the reminder. Tim
