Well, redid the ferrule and rewrapped it also rewrapped the hook keeper. I think you will enjoy the finished product compared to the first run.
That is a nice looking Rod!
Wish we had flowers right now! Still have 2-3ft of snow on the ground!

NewTyer 1,
Lookin good - love the butt on this rod! Any thoughts on making a rod with a birdseye maple handle/insert and butt? That would be awesome!!
Best regards, Dave S.
Thanks guys. I'm always thinking of my next build and always searching on a unusual item to build from. Who knows what my next build will be.
You are going to have a ball fishing that beauty!
<most envious of your crocus'! at least someone has spring!!>

I was waiting for you to chime in Betty. The flowers just don't know whether to come up or stay in the ground. The weather has been so crazy. To bad we didn't have computers that we could smell through. I would put a bunch for you to smell. Anyway, do you like the ferrule and hook keeper better now that I have rewrapped them?
In a word? Yes. You've done a great job! You should be very proud of your work, and enjoy the daylights out of fishing it!!! Only problem I can see now? Concentrating on fishing when you're looking at the rod gleaming in the sunshine, and knowing you built it!!!!!!
Keep us posted on the fishing! We need a picture of the first fish caught!!!

You betcha
Well butt and one top are complete. I still have one top to go but, at this point I have a complete rod. I took it out in the back yard and cast it. Wow, awesome action, very smooth, 30-40' cast with smooth layout. I was using a 5wt nymph floating line. Great flex in the rod, no vibration or stress on the handle. Here is a picture of the finished product
