    Default First Bamboo Build

6'-6" 2pc. 4-5wt. with extra tip. It has maroon and gold wraps. I will put a second coat of varnish on after signing my name and rod specifics, then FlexCoat epoxy for the wraps.

First picture is of my modest building station. The rest will be of the rod. I have wrapped somemore but, haven't taken pictures yet. I have posted these around so, if they look familiar, they probably are.

Looks as if it will be a fine rod. Especially like the handle, reel seat.

Did you split and glue the bamboo?

No, I did not split the Bamboo. I wish I had the knowledge and setup for that. The blank is a premade Tonkin blank from China. It is a solid blank. I would like to find a hollow made blank in a light weight, to do my next one and make the handle from cork rings.

Just curious...is there a bump in the middle of the ferrule wrap? If so, what is under it?

Lookin gorgeous so far NewTyer1 - nice to see a bamboo rod post. Question: does a solid handle have an effect on the rod stiffness/action, as opposed to a cork handle? What about a rod that has cork all the way to the butt plate? Thanks.

    Best regards, Dave S.

I'm not really sure about that. They all have a blank that goes all the way through the handle , reel seat to butt cap. I would imagine that the cork may be a little more comfortable on the hands. I guess I will have to try both my bamboos when they are finished to find out. Or maybe someone will chime in with some experience. I just thought I would build something different.
