In the last three years, I've been on the water over 300 days and caught THREE native trout in their native waters. I've caught two warmwater fish that are native in their native waters in that time also. Not really looking good for native fish. I've caught boatloads of mountain whitefish, which were all native and in their native waters, but only three cutthroat. Everything else has been introduced in one way or another, whether it's a non-native fish or a native fish but not in its original waters. Except for a handful of whities each year for the smoker, I let everything else go simply because if we want to start harvesting non-native fish, the fish population would drop too low to sustain wild fish and I really doubt it would help native fish recover in any significant fashion. We've done too damage much to repair.

But to answer the question at hand, other than the whities, I only consider keeping fish if they are stocked and unable to reproduce and will be restocked.
