I was talking with a non-angler about my inability to catch anything on a fly, and she posed the question, "Can fish smell? Maybe they smell your smoke."

I don't know for sure, but I assume that fish *can* smell, since they sell scented worms and scenting fluids to put on them.

My question to the forum, though, is if anybody knows if the smell of smoke will keep the fish away?

I don't smoke when I'm tying the flies, but I do smoke when I'm fishing, and usually when I'm tying the fly on.

Any thoughts?
