This is a pattern I came up with for Little Yellow Sallies, small terrestrial and big Caddis. More of a slow water pattern not as buoyant as the flies with more foam but a more realistic profile.

1. Start with a long shank hook. This is actually a 3761 nymph hook, a thinner wire hook would be better but this is all I had on hand.

2. Tie in a thin piece of razor foam, this is the thinner of the two sizes that come in the package.

3. Wrap the foam forward forming a segmented body. By varying the pressure you can change the thickness and get the foam to taper

4. Tie in some flash for a wing

5. And some bleached deer hair like a large Elk Hair caddis, let the butts form the head and wrap a longer section down for the hackle area.

6. Add the hackle and you?re all done.

7. As usual the only view that matters:

8. Here is a technique I do for a more segmented body without having to add more material. Take a sharpie and color just the edge of your foam strip (I love tying with foam!)

9. Tie in the foam with the colored side down

10. Wrap like before
