Default Best color for wraps on dark bamboo

OK, got some good advice on thread size. Now, I will be putting together a rod of darkened bamboo. What, in your opinion are good color combinations.

I have seen some regular blond type rods and I like the lighter color or even clearwraps with black tips but I am not sure how they would look on a darker rod. Any suggestions or web sites that would show examples?

    Thank you.

Reds look great on bamboo rods. You may also look at some chestnut browns with a gold accent.

I like red thread with black accents. I have trouble working with silk thread so I use regular nylon red thread with NCP Black trim. As a matter of personal preference, I don't like metalic trim on bamboo rods.

How dark is dark? I like an olive on "dark" bamboo.

    That looks nice, Dave.
I also like Betty's olive suggestion.

That almost looks variegated. I like the Olive suggestion as well. I am thinking that on my blonde boo.

if you have a fly shop close take a section of the rod with you. Go to the thread section and hold several different colors against the rod. Seems every other rod is red, my South Bend included. ha! I have seen fine rods wrapped in a color that most of us would not consider. One was lavender and it was really beautiful. Have fun and phooey on the red.

    Default Thread color on bamboo

I've got a rather dark Southbend #59 with brown thread which looks good to me. Here's a picture (if I can get it attached).
