Can anyone tell me where I can find the Defrag option in Windows Vista Home Premium? I can't even find if it's set to run automatically.
Thanks,
Joe,
Go to control panel click on system and maintance, then scroll down to admin tools and click on defrag.
Hope this helps.
Start menu, all programs, accessories, system tools, defrag. then either run it or set it up to run on a schedule
Be sure to leave it turned on when you go to bed on Tuesday evening.....

Joe,
Did you read the next two lines in that defrag advice window? Make sure the NEXT scheduled date IS correct. My schedule started in 2005. Last scheduled defrag was 3.10.10 and next scheduled run was NEVER. Nedless to say, I defraged RIGHT NOW and scheduled same for every Wed at 1:00 AM.
AND, thanks for reminding me with your post. If you snooze, you lose.

Joe,
I could use the lotech handle myself. I was 40 years old when I started using a computer and have never really had any formal training. I have learned a few thing the hard way. On my older computer I manually check for Cookies, temp files and one has Zone Alarm installed that creates a log of activity. The log gets huge and slows down the computer ever couple of days. I manually hunt down the files and eliminate them.
