I've had great luck going with a maribou tail and a bit of maribou mixed in with the wing. Gives a lot of action when fished slow for crappie under an indicator. My best Crappie fly and catches a lot of other species is my BS Fly. Basically a bog copper beadhead with a peacock estaz body and a wing and tail of dark olive maribou with a throat of red, redish orange or yellow. BS=Bluegill Sunfish and this fly has caught, at last count, 14 species of fish including a world record Tilapia. Almost always fish it under an indicator and slowly.
