    THIS WEEK

If you are reading this you most likely are still able to sign on and find Fly Anglers OnLine.
While we?ve been ?online? for fourteen plus years now, every once and again something goes south and the web site you have come to expect to be online isn?t. I think you know what I mean.

Deanna I found your article, with no problem....

Note to Ron Tidd "aka Techie": The connection to the the Bulleting Board at the end of LadyFishers article does not connect....no big deal, but thought I would let you know about it!

Deanna glad that is got up to 70 degrees in Tucson today, in White Bear Lake MN, it the low temperature this week will be +10 degrees F with a day time of 30 degrees F. This weekend was the start of the annual "St. Paul Winter Canival, with many outdoor events, including the annual "Treasure Hunt" where the St. Paul Pioneer Press posts daily clue to find the Treasure, the Treasure is a "Winter Canival Coin that when presented, to claim the prize money, the Finder gets $10,000 if they have a St. Paul Winter Carnival Button. We have Vulcans riding all over town on the back of a fire truck battling King Boris and his Royal Court. We even have parades in these winte weather conditions.....lots of things to see and do as we celbrate winter!

And the person who hid the treasure coin, and wrote the prose to guide you to the treasure, has been sent to an undeclosed location outside some place that is a lot warmer than Minnesota at the moment.

I am glad that the updating of the archives files is about to start... and that you are someplace where you don't have to worry about the car not starting because your forgot to plug the engine heater to the house outdoor electrical outlet....~Parnelli

In February I am heading to Walker MN, for the annual "Eelpout Festival" The Eelpout that they are celibrating is actually a freshwater burbot, and not of the eelpout species And even though they are ugly, they are very good to eat....

LF, I think you should have had some fun with it. Like say, "I have included a good trout recipe at the end of this article, its one that has been in the family for ages and as a consolation prize for not having FAOL, I am sharing this with our loyal readers." Then in the middle of the last paragraph, have it abruptly end like the article was not quite done, yet, you know a tech glitch.

Sometimes, you just have to laugh at the problems computers bring us, because getting frustrated all the time will just increase the blood pressure and increas stress. I think we're all mature enough to appreciate a good laugh over tech glitches.

You were talking about the Chat room...have you ever thought about going to a live voice chat option? I've been using one for a few years now, called Team Speak. http://www.teamspeak.com/ It's common among the gamers but it's usable in any sort of group environment.

I also found the FREE Team Speak server.
Here is a video of the set up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDJU8...1&feature=fvwp
Here is one for TeamSpeak 3 which is what you would want now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpKJW...eature=related This one might be better but there is no lack of videos on how to do this:

If FAOL is a profit based company/web host then there is a fee for server services. I'm not sure how FAOL would fit into which catagory...as I see it as an info sharing site and not one that is actually selling something, other than sponsorships. Here is the info on that anyway.
There is a minimal monthly cost involved, depending on how may slots (people talking and listening at the same time)you want to have. I looked. Say you want 15 slots. That runs about $4.50 a month.
Here is a breakdown in cost from one server company: http://voicemonsters.com/ts.php I'm guessing that it's similar no matter who you go with. Here is the list of hosters: http://sales.tritoncia.com/ts3_hosters.php

You can also send text messages back and fourth...drag folks to different "rooms" etc.
I'm not trying to sell it...I just use it and it adds a whole new dimension to CHAT. It's fun. It's like being in a room with a room full of people. It also has kick and ban capabilities in case anyone gets out of hand.
The program is free to non commercial users.
