Winter Hatches is holding it's annual Fly Tying Symposium on Sunday, February 6th, at the North York Civic Centre (Toronto). If you're new to fly tying and just getting started or a seasoned veteran, there's something here for all. There is a full day Beginners Fly Tying Class,( all materials and tools are supplied). For others there are several seminars to choose from, with skill levels aimed at Everybody and some for Intermediate tiers. Ian Colin James is teaching "Midges & Munchers" (everybody level) . John Johnson, a Michigan tier, is doing "Michigan Bass Flies and Michigan Trout Flies." (intermediate level)
Chris Day, originally from Newfoundland is teaching "East Coast Hornbergs & Altantic Salmon flies" (Intermediate level). Steve May is teaching "Tube Flies" ( for intermediate tiers...mandrels can be purchased for $12) Steve Hunt is teaching "Carp Killers & Steelhead Stoppers" (Everybody level) .
The cost is $70 for the day and it?s worth it. This includes lunch and refreshments and a nice book of patterns to take home.
