Quick question: I have an old 7'6" Fiberglass rod. It has 5 guides. I snow cast it with a 5 wt and it did pretty good.

I am going to rewrap it. Would you use 5 guides placed as factory made or modify and use 8 guides as most charts suggest for newer rods?

    Thanks

I think I would leave it with the spacing of the original set. I think the graphs for guide spacing are for graphite rods.
I inherited a fiberglass rod and the guide spacings are different on it than on the graphite I have that is the same length.

If you like it the way it cast now I'd leave that way. It's a personal choice and that's what custom building is all about--building to our own personal specifications.
