I thought a shadow cast was repeated false casting so the shadow of the fly could attract fish. A refined form of sight fishing.

I think this clip was on a humor 'plug' on Moldy Chum a couple of weeks ago.

What is to say? It is not all between 10:00 and 2:00. Sometimes a splashy cast works? But not on carp, too smart!

No joke, I shadow cast as part of my practice all the time,,

There is a park near my home that when the sun is
going down will allow me , rod and line to cast a shadow on
the lawn that is just prefect to see arm, rod and line movement...

    It's very helpful and enjoyable..

As well at night the lights do much the same,,,

One night I was out on the park lawn shadow casting and the sprinklers came on,
I thought , time to put my hat on and switch to a roll cast..

Seriously though give it a try....

    Always share!

    Be safe
