Being "between" jobs, I thought it might be fun to take a seasonal job at the state trout hatchery. We produce over 800,000 trout for stocking and millions of eggs for sale to other states each year.
The job is not as much fun as expected (low man on the totem pole), but one part I really enjoy is running the pay to fish ponds on weekends.
There are two ponds one for fly and one for spinning. Each stocked with trout 16- 24".
The fly regulars are a great bunch of guys, much like the folks here on FAOL.
The folks on the spin pond are a mixed group. The majority are folks are like us who just enjoy using spin tackle. There are others though who would rather not follow the rules and will use any measure get their big one. Bait, power bait, stink bait, barbed hooks, you name it.
The funny thing is, the folks that follow the rules do better, both fly and spin. More skills, I guess. These people are less likely to keep a fish too.
