I love the look of these flies my only concern with carp flies is the smell from paint and glues. Carp find a lot of there food by smell and many times will reject a fly and I think its from the smell. In tying my carp flies I never use glue (just good tying practices and good knots) and when possible I take my fly and rub it in the mud, water weeds and such before using them and have found this to work great. Never use your hands to put on bug cream use a pump spray with hospital surgical gloves or use some of the bug proof clothing that hunters use not the chemical cloths but the netting ones. If you do use glue or paint wash your flies in a baking soda warm water mix and then air them out in the great outdoors. Good luck
