Capris Hair?
While helping the owner of a fly shop that has been in business over 40 years sort through some stuff in the back of a storage room we came across some well sealed tin cans of material. His late wife used to manage the fly tying supplies. Based documentation in the tins we determined that the contents were probably acquired in the mid '70s. An assortment of natrual materials was found in these, all in perfect condition. However there was a material that we were not familiar with and an on line search has turned up nothing yet.
There were several packages of a very fine off white colored hair labeled "Capris Hair". It seems similar to calf body but is thinner. The hair on the different patches ranged from 2 to 3 inches long and is straight. The skin was soft, almost like chamois. It is not polar bear.
Anyone have any idea what it might be?
