Yeah, that was probably it, then. It seemed that many tyers (naturally) shifted from conversational mode to demonstration mode when more than 3-4 people gathered. They'd answer questions, but not really engage any one person. Certainly understandable. From what I saw, the real trick to estrablishing some kind of a conversation with a tyer was to pay them a visit when nobody else was in front of them. One gentleman had some unbelievable woven-body steelhead hairwings, and the first time I stopped, there were 6-7 guys questioning him rapid fire. Not that there was anything wrong with that (he's a featured personality after all), but he wasn't conversing with any of them. A few hours later, his booth was clear, and we talked for a few minutes about how he did it and what the elaborate weaving was used for in Japan where it originated.
