Thread: Thougts on Magnetized Hooks

    Default Thougts on Magnetized Hooks

Forget, but dogs have something like 500,000 uh...whatever...level more smell sensitivity than humans. Bats fly using radar with out eyes. Trout fly up to my fly, then turn and swim away. My hooks come in contact with the magnet on the base of my vise. Hmmmmm...quite a difficult test to quantify...but wonder what would happen if I de-magnetized the hooks? Any thoughts?

    Jim,

All the hair would fall off the hook and then you couldn't claim to be fly fishing anymore!

Besides, aren't worms attracted to de-magnetized hooks. LOL!!!

Just humor my friend, just humor! Hahahahaha!!!

    POJ;
I use a lot of TIEMCO hooks that come with a little magantized pad in the package to hold the hooks in place. Some even put sticky back pieces of magnetic tape in the bottom of their fly boxs.
Does this have any effect on fishing? Maybe we could get a government grant to do an extensive study?
Hmmmmm! $500,000.00 for a 2 year extensive study? Of course it would mean fishing every day!

I forgot to ask if that shot shell loader is working ok! Finishing the cycle is tricky, you can end up with powder and shot all over!!

    Hey Jack,

It's already being done here in the states, so you'll have to take your field testing to open regions like, the Kamchatka, New Zealand, Patagonia, and the Seychelles!

Some how I don't really see how that's gonna hurt your feelings. LOL!!!

Bats use sonar not radar and all of my hooks are controlled by magnets before I tie with them. If catch rate would go up by not using a magnet, I would not be fishing I would be catching!!!!!!!

    Wednesday Caster,

After reviewing your Resume', it appears you may be over qualified for the position and were going to have to pass at this time.

UUUUUNNNLESS, you'd be willing to also double as lead guide (tying the flies on everyone's line), camp host (yep, setting up and tearing down the tents each day), chef (cooking, morning, noon and night), photojournalist (writer and photographer of the entire event) and last but most important, Captain (that means rowing the raft).

During the interview process you also stated that Salary was negotiable. That's great, because after all the doctor bills were going to have to pay for your torn, battered, bruised, worn out, and flat out tired body from completing all of your duties, all that will be left over is, all the Wild Trout, Steelhead, Massive Browns, Grayling, Bull Trout, Salmon, Bonefish, Tarpon, Barracuda, sharks, Jack Crevalle, and Permit you can catch, in your spare time, of course!!!

If your still interested in the position and you choose this mission after all of this, we will have you sign an Insanity Release and your hired, welcome to the team!

We leave in the morning, so hurry up and get ready!

    Edited to include forgotten duties!

Bats have eyes, which work quite well. Echolocation is not radar. Magnetic hooks changing the fish's perception? I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. Maybe work on the presentation?
