    Default Fly Line Twist

I've got a couple rods on which the fly line has developed some nice twists. I've tried pulling the twisted segments off the reel, then pinching the line between my fingers while reeling the line back onto the reel spool. It might help, but it hasn't completely fixed the problem.
    Other suggestions, please?

Dave, to remove twist go to a river or creek and strip all of twisted line out into the water with no fly on leader. It will untwist while hanging downstream and you can reel it back on the spool.

What rbc said really works if you do it behind a high powered motor boat at full speed...seriously but maybe not full speed

Since I no longer frequent such boats I tie off one end and stretch it back and forth between my deck railings...and leave it awhile .....on a hot day.

Some folks just stretch it out say around their trailer hitch...[or some smooth non traumatic round thing] the day they go fishing.

    Dave,

If you don't have a river or a boat handy...

Get yourself a good quality ball bearing swivel.

Take the leader off the fly line and put the swivel in it's place.

Use a piece of wire, string, whatever works, to attach the end of the swivel opposite your line to something sturdy. I always use a concrete block that I place in the corner of the front yard.

Hold the reel in your hands and back away from the from the tied down end, keeping tension on the line as it pulls off the reel. You'll see the swivel turn as the line untwists. Once you get past all the twists, stretch the line a bit until the swivel stops turning. Give the line another good stretching. And another.

    That should fix it.

If not, time for a new line.

    Good Luck!
