Need Fall/October Caddis Pattern for Colorado/New Mexico

Hi All,

I am looking for a pattern for the fall caddis or October caddis dry fly pattern for Colorado or New Mexico.

Preferably it will be a stimulator or elk hair caddis type pattern. Thanks in advance for any help that you can give.

This is one of my favorite October caddis patterns, I use it for trout in eastern Washington and, especially, for sea-run cutthroat on the west side, from the end of September into November (weather permitting). It's essentially a size 8 Elk Hair Caddis in orange. I actually find the October Caddis pupa pattern to be more versatile and generally more effective. I've included a picture of the real thing (Dicosmoecus gilvipes) for comparison.

HI Mr. Singletary, in the middle photo I noticed the bead chain eyes are tyed on top. Will this cause the fly to tip upside down ?

The eyes are extra-small bead chain and aren't heavy enough to invert the fly. When the fly is being stripped, they do tend to make the fly fall off to one side or the other between trips.
