    Default Anyone Still Tie Paraloops???

    Hi,
Wondering if any of you folks have a favorite fly tied in the old paraloop style? I just got a gallows attachment for my JVICE and am enjoying tying these patterns again.

Please let me know what you think.
    Thanks

Nice looking paraloop patterns. I may have to tie up a few for next spring, or even for the year round river nearby.

I can't say about fly fishing but there's a lot of feed lots in Kansas.

    Good ties.

But y'know, I've never gotten the point of paraloops. What need does it solve that isn't met by a Catskill, parachute, modern thorax or comparadun? Or even just a hackle-collared fly with no wing?

The tail seems on the heavy side to me, or are you imitating a shuck?

Because the paraloop offers better floatation due to the hundreds of intact hackle fibers; these help displace the water better than a trimmed hackle or a sparse parachute hackle.
Plus, I think they look cool and accentuate the thorax?

They look cool, are fun to tie, and fish eat 'em. What more can you ask of any fly?
If it swims and eats, it'll eat a fly.
