    Planettrout,

Bookmarked this one! I like the looks of that pattern a lot. Thanks for sharing.

Good tie. Was wondering why you use the TMC2488 as opposed to the TMC2488H? Is it just because you can't get the 2488H in the smaller sizes, or do you find the smaller hook gauge makes a difference? Have favored the heavier gauge hook myself, but am beginning to think I should experiment with the lighter gauge as well, so I'm interested in any thoughts you might have.

    Luck.

Very nice. Charlie's entire "Juju" line of flies work great.

I really like that purple! Go Horned Frogs! But Purple has always been good to me when fishing also...

I use the TMC 2488H for fly patterns other than the small Baetis and BWO's. It is a great hook, but a tad portly, even with a 14/0 thread base, when tying small patterns. I have not had ANY problems with the hooking capability of the TMC 2488...Some of the Gammakatsu hooks I tie on are really light gauge wire

    Like THIS:

    Gamma SnoShu Hackle BWO:
    Thread: Gordon Griffith?s 14/0, Olive
    Hook: Gammakatsu C15-BV, #16-#18
    Shuck: Olive Zelon
    Abdomen: BWO Turkey Biot, Fringed
    Thorax: Stalcup?s BWO Micro Dub
    Hackle: Grizzly Dyed Dun, Rooster
    Wing: Dun Snow Shoe Hare

Or THIS, on a TMC 2487

    Grey Olive SnoShu Puff Baetis:
    Thread: Gordon Griffith?s 14/0, Brown
    Hook: TMC 2487 or Daiichi 1130, #16-#22
    Shuck: Light Olive Zelon
    Abdomen: BWO Goose Biot, Fringed
Wing: Dun Snow Shoe Hare, thick, clipped at an angle
    Thorax: Stalcup?s BWO ( Brown/Olive) Micro Dub

I also use a Roman Moser bungee connection (shock gum loops) on my leader when fishing light gauge wire fly patterns...it helps...

Very nice. I much prefer the TMC2488 to the TMC2487, after having straightened a few. Have not played with shock gum yet, because I've never really understood what it was supposed to achieve. Might have to pick up a pack just to play with them a bit...

    Thanks.
