Very nice indeed Yonks. As an Army Vet myself, I know that whoever gets that rod will be proud of it.
Thanks guys. Glad that you all like it. It was a fun project to build. Sounds like there are quite a few Vets floating around this board. Thanks to all of you for your service! I wish I had the means to build all of you a rod.
Yonks
Yonks did a great thing helping our organization along - Fly FISHING FOR VETS is the volunteer organization for the Ga Chapter of Project Healing Waters - we are moving towards combining both organizations. We have two main events a year, during the fall work with wouned vets that are recovering at teh Shepard Spinal Center in Atlanta teaching them fly tying, casting, knot tying, etc and after 6 weeks we take them out to a just stocked delayed harvest river suitable for easy wading - one wounded Army vet will receive Yonks rod, a reel and line . There are 8 vet involved in this program and all will be getting a donated rod built by custom rod builder, reel and line which is their to keep - On the other side of town we are involved with 20-25 vets at the VA hospital - they will also be at the fishing day. Then in March we do it all over again and then have really big outing - 150 volunteers, 90 wounded vets - for fishing, fun, food - check it out on our Website http://flyfishingforvets.com/GFFFVDII.html - thanks Mike
Congratulations Mike - your group is doing a fine thing for our wounded vets. We have similar programs here in Montana, stay tuned for an article by Tom Travis who has been guiding the programs for a couple of years. Thanks so much for honoring our vets!
