    Another Dam Removal Victory - Conservationists celebrated the removal of the West Winterport Dam from Marsh Stream in Maine on September 29. After a decade of hard work, more than 80 miles of habitat have been opened to sea-run fish, including Atlantic salmon.

    Environment Canada has launched investigations into the alleged illegal use of the pesticide Cypermethrin in the Bay of Fundy. Federal government investigators found the chemical in weak and dying lobsters in the Bay of Fundy. Further inspections have found detectable levels of cypermethrin at two aquaculture sites in SW New Brunswick. This chemical, illegal for marine use in Canada, is used in other countries to combat sea lice.
