Very nice! You know, you can get a really good brown dye from boiling acorns. Half fill a pot with acorns, cover with water, bring to a boil, and simmer for an hour or so. The tannins in the acorns act as a mordant and make the dye colour fast in wool. Should work well for alpaca wool too (I've dyed a small amount of alpaca in dye extracted from the new growth bark of a maple tree : gives a nice ginger). If you toss some rust in the acorn dye bath (i.e. take an old steel wool ball, let it sit in water and turn to rust) then this is supposed to give black rather than the dark brown. Walnuts work well too. I've not tried these dyes on feathers, but I would think they should work.
