Great flies! reminds me of some tadpole patterns I've tied by stacking and trimming wool (without the eyes and fins). Stacked wool, and now obviously Alpaca is a very distinctive look not achieved by any other material. Since you stacking it and not spinning it, it is much easier to layer different colors. (i.e. lighter on the bottom, dark streaks on top etc.) or even mottle in dark spots on the body. Of course this can be done easier with a permanant marker once trimmed but where's the fun in that?
