    hey joe, how y'all doin?

a real simple and effective snail is a fat peacock herl body with a brown rooster hackle. fine gold wire rib enhances durability.

I can't say about fly fishing but there's a lot of feed lots in Kansas.

THose are some interesting flies. I never would have even thought about fishing a snail fly. But the information on that link suggests that they should work really well.

    Hi,

There's an NZ fly called Love's Lure, which is often used as a snail pattern. Very similar to what Wes' describes. Fat herl body, black hackle, and add a few curls of peacock sword as a wing. Works good as a beetle immitation as well.

This time of year is a good time to use them...especially on lakes and ponds. I've caught trout with bellies full of them in the fall.
