Some of you are familiar with the Wood-Strip rods I have been building. The first rod I built from Ash turned out pretty well. A bit "whippy" but OK. The second rod I built out of Purpleheart casts pretty well but ended up VERY heavy. Really too heavy to balance well which makes it uncomfortable to fish for any length of time. I'm pretty sure I know what caused it to be too heavy and can correct that on my next one.

Here's my question...

If you were me, what would you do with the "unfishable" Purpleheart rod? Strip the components off of it and re-use them on the next one, or hang it on the wall for display since it "looks nice and I built it"?

One of my fishing buddies votes for hanging it on the wall. I'm leaning toward re-using the components and throwing the blank in the campfire wood box. I should be able to salvage everything but the grip if I decide to go that route.

Any thoughts?
