Default great article on lefty kreh

Great article on Lefty in the Washington Post Magazine today, tidbits of info
    - 85 years old
    - fought in the Battle of the Bulge
    - caught anthrax in the 50's doing biological warfare research along with 2 others - he was the only one to live and they named the strain after him
    - used to cast 8 fly rods at once for shows, one reel between every 2 fingers
    - first article he wrote was about shooting squirrels from a canoe
    - has a carp dough bait recipe that includes strawberry jello
    - very active in project healing waters
    - my wife thinks I am in the picture at the Virginia Fly Fishing Festival, Im the one holding the wine glass

    Pillcaster,
Thanks for the opportunity to read that article. Lefty is an amazing fellow. I will always cherish that 10 min. or so that he spent with me behind the tents. I'm planning on going back to the festival next April and the main reason is to hear and watch Lefty. Maybe he will give me another private lesson.

First time I got to talk to him I was waiting for the ferry to go fish Cape Lookout. The ferry driver was going to drop us off by the lighthouse - Lefty, who was poking around in the shop looking at hats, turned to him and said "Wrong spot; you need to drop them off at the Hook. Thats where the fly fishermen go". We thanked him, took the ferry over, caught some false albacore and then went to the big pig roast at Tom Earnhart's house that night. Lefty was there, saw us and came over and asked how we had done. We told him we had managed to catch a few and thanked him again for steering us in the right direction. Heck of a nice guy.

    Regards,
    Scott

Great article. Makes me want to meet him all the more. Then go out and buy another TFO.
Where you go is less important than how you take the steps.
