Default South Bend 359-9

I'm ready to start the wraps on my grandfather's old South Bend.
I know this rod wasn't one of their best, but it was old TP's and deserves to come out of the closet and get some use.
TP was a florist and all the guides on the rod were at one time "rewraped" with yellow florist tape.
I of course want to use thread
If anyone has one of these rods I would like to know the color of the wraps.
I'm guessing yellow with black tips, but really don't know.
Thanks.

I have seen lots of different colors used on South Bend cane rods.
My 291 has olive drab tipped in red. We have an old SB rod, 290, kicking around here. It is 7'6" and sweet. It has verigated thread wraps like the second rod pictured by Buzz. I could not tell if they started as yellow or orange though.

Mike, I had it on our rod builders forum
Two weeks, no response

Vocelli, I just may go to the classic rod forum with this, but I figured I ask here first.

I see on ebay there is a 359-9 with the verigated wraps. My rod has a different color reel seat (copperish?) and
I'm pretty sure about the solid color wraps
I have some spools of the verigated thread but I never really like that style
The rod I just finished had that and I changed it to a claret color.

The reel seat is plastic
I'm going to go with the yellow
with black tips if I don't find out for sure.

Dudley,
I second the recommendation to post on the http://p205.ezboard.com/bclarksclassicflyrodforum[/url:4b218]
Along w/our board, there is also a rod building forum http://www.rodbuildingforum.com/[/url:4b218]

I think you will find that SB will be a sweet caster especially with the knowledge of the hands that last casted it.
I've got an 8.5 and 7.5 SB and enjoy both.

I have a SB 359 - 9 with a burgundy plastic reelseat. While I can't guarantee that the wraps are original they seem old enough to be.

They are solid "rootbeer" to echo Vocelli's description.
