    Default Watcha tying lately

I've been tying up some flies for salmon fishing and late season trout. Curious to see what everyone else is tying this fall.

Tying up various midge patterns. The family is heading out in a couple of weeks for the annual family gathering in the Sierra's.

I can't say about fly fishing but there's a lot of feed lots in Kansas.

I am experimenting with 2 different Mayfly patterns wishing I had a Nor-Vise.
one with dubbing and one using Yellow 2mm foam.
I can't seem ta find the sweet taste of the stream

I'm still tying Pine squirrel flies, particularly RLS's. I think they'll be killer for fall whites and smallies so I want to make sure I have enough not to have to stop fishing and tie more. Of course having plenty of them on hand might be the kiss of death, too. Darn, hadn't thought of that. Hmmm...
If it swims and eats, it'll eat a fly.

After all the nasty remarks the trout made about my dry flies yesterday, last night I rehabed several 18's & 20's from my box. Trout can just be so snide and snooty some times. The good news is my abilities have improved, the bad news is there is still a long way to go.

Last week I tied up some tan GFA hoppers. The bluegill and chub in a nearby creek liked 'em just fine. Hopefully will use them on some trout at the end of the month and then trout season is over in Southwest Wisconsin.

I'll be tying up some more Finnits. Been a great producer for the smallies this year. While "electric chicken" has accounted for most & biggest, the "redhead" is gaining ground.
You can see both versions here .......
