Maybe the posts are there but people aren't INTENTIONALLY labeling themselves "newbies." Possibly some people think they won't be taken as seriously or get the same level of response if people know they're talking to a "newbie." Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that happens here but I'm sure it happens on some boards. It haven't noticed a drop in posts on FAOL asking for help at least IMO.

And I would have to agree with Normand, I don't think the economy has much to do with people not wanting to frequent a board and ask questions. If anything I'd think there'd be more interest in recreational activities including flyfishing since those who are unfortunately out of work have the free time on their hands AND they may be looking for a way to relax and deal with the stress.
