  1. Default NY Opening Day...I'm ready are you

I'm all pumped for opening day.
Got my lic ($19 here in NY)got my Flybox about set.
Lines are clean and the Big ole Battenkill LA ready for another season of bigg'ins.
Personal records to break this year....Brown Trout (15in) Rainbow Trout (8in) and LM Bass (21in 5lbs)

Dunno if I wanna go after the little local stockies or wait for the Beaverkill?

Noooo, don't wait. You need to fish!

I hate to wait FA but about anyone can catch a freshly stocked stocky.
Not much sport to it actually.

All one needs is a fly that looks like a fish food pellet! LOL

I'm ready...but I might not be able to make opening day. College class is getting in the way. I still might get out on a Cayuga trib though.

When I'm home for spring break (March 1, I'll hopefully be fishing on the Beaverkill and W. Branch of the Delaware on the areas that are open year round...since I'm missing opening day.

Personal records to break: Brown trout (20"), Rainbow (15"), Brookie (14"), and Landlocked Salmon (20"). I hope to break them all.

If I was home on opening day, I would be tempted to fish mountain streams for brookies...just to get away from crowds and be able to catch some very pretty fish.

I was up there today boys, don't get to pumped up just yet. The Willo and BK are heavily iced over in the pools. There is a some open water in the riffs, but lots of shelf ice. Went up and reserved a spot at a campground on the East Branch to park my travel trailer for the season. Soon as it opens up I'll be floating the D! Lots of snow on the ground, but March came in like lyon and should go out like a lamb. It won't be long.

    Fish while you can,

Anyone here fish the Cohocton River in central NY? Or any other rivers in the Finger Lakes region? I would appreciate any advice on places to fish or flies.
