Saturday morning I'll be in the field. After the hunt we all get together and B.B.Q. and watch S.E.C. football. September thru the new year is such a great time in the south. Football, hunting, fishing and the holidays with all the best southern cooking you can eat!

    Jeffro,

Dove season starts on 1 Sep. here in Penna, but during the first season you can't hunt until 12 noon. I know it gets hot in Texas, having spent a little time at Lackland AFB in San Antonio back in the early 70's. So, your probably not going to be too sympathetic when I complain that its going to be 94 deg. here on wednesday . I'm not so much concerned about myself as I am about my two german short-haired pointers. I may have to wait until saturday (72 degs.). We do encounter a number of doves sitting tight enough in the fields for them to point. One of these years I will have to take them out for the early goose season. One of the two dogs,(Sam) in particular has been eye-balling those big honkers during the trout season and wants one in a bad way! Hope everyone enjoys the upcoming bird season as well as the late summer fishing.

Im going dove hunting on labor day, when i finally have a day off. This isnt supposed to be a great year for them, but a bad day hunting beats a good day working. The conservation land Im hunting has a, get this, bluegill management lake with what people say are huge bluegills. Needless to say, my fly rod will be close by all day. I hope to go turkey hunting for the fist time this year.

Be going out for some Blue Grouse and some Ruff Grouse. Hope my season is better than last year. One in the bag would be a better season.

I bird hunt all year long. Here in TN., we have a year-round Open Season on English Sparrows, Pigeons, and Starlings, with no limits. And I have a WMA within walking distance (sort of...3 miles away).

    They are delicious.
