When I got the invite to hit the Green Drake Hatch on the Frying Pan River. A tributary to the Roaring Fork the Frying Pan River is a cold mountain river due in part to the water from the Ruedi Reservoir. The water from the dam is a bottom release, the water is pretty cold I never found water over 50 degrees, and that was because of a warmer rain. Many people fish the water below the Ruedi Dam. My friend John and I never made it up to the dam, we fished most other public areas. We stayed in cabins across the street from the river, which hade a mile and a half of private never even fished it next time. The cabin were very nice, with plenty of room. We fished hard everyday, the fish seemed to be looking up all day long looking for PMD's, and Green Drakes. I caught quite a few Rainbows, and Browns which averraged about 12"s to 14's . Most of my fish were caught on dries but I did get a few fish on soft hackles and wets . Parachute Green Drakes, PMD Sparkle Duns, Green Drake, PMD soft hackles , Syes midge, RS2's, Batis , and midge paterns and many more . It has some interesting wading from boulder filled water to average riffles , to some slow silty water. http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...ver2010027.jpg http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...ver2010018.jpg http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...ver2010026.jpg http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...ver2010017.jpg http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...ver2010010.jpg http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...ver2010032.jpg My friend John had the fish of the Trip a very nice Rainbow .
