    Default Boston FFing

Ok, My Boston (Chelmsford actually) trip is two weeks away and I'm bringing my little pack rod to hopefully do a little trout fishing for a day or two. What rivers are around there? anyone from there want to go fishing? what flyshops are in the area? As far as regs go, what does a two day nonresident license cost? Thanks for the info/help/etc. etc. etc....

If I didn't drink this beer, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I say to myself, "It is better that I drink this beer and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."

I lived there for 7 years, before moving to NJ two years ago. The Squannacook (sp?) has a fly fishing only section which I hear good things about. For stillwater, Walden Pond and some pond in Woburn have the best back cast room that I could find. All of them get a good amount of trout and have great public access although you might have to pay to park at Walden Pond...good smallies there too!

Stocking has begun in some areas. The Nissitisset river is stocked and is a short drive from Chelmsford. Check out the following link for mass wildlife in week or so is shows locations up near where you'll be. Get a good map. Most of the smaller rivers will have fish stocked in the 8-10" range, the ponds will have larger ones. And as someone else mentioned check out concord outfitters.

Second on Concord Outfitters. Andy is great. Also try Natick Outdoor Store. They have all sorts of great things.I know of no other store where you can buy a Sage Xi2 with a Tibor Reel, a pair of Bauer Supreme Hockey Skates and a Jeter Sucks ARod Swallows T Shirt in the same trip.

The Swift can be good, but the water level is up and construction on the bridge has all but eliminated the presence of fish until they stock again. If you find that they do stock you should give it a whirl.

Spoke with MA Fish and Wildlife. Stocking has begun in lakes. Rivers will follow once the water levels drop.

As for fish in the Swift being gone... email me if your going that way and I'll tell you what I saw (and where) late last week.
