Do we tie any flies using circle hooks for saltwater applications?
I believe I can fly fish
There's a small number of flies you could tie with them but I don't care to myself. Others may like 'em. I think circle hooks are something PETA came out with. ha!!

Ah, I see. I was just curious about it, not sure if they even make circle hooks in size 4.
Thanks GILs.

I have used the now discontinued freshwater version of this of this hook in a size 2 for Largemouth bass. This style hook actually increased my hook to land ratio by 15 to 17 % for LG mouth bass . You must strip strike with these hooks which is a good thing to do for bigger fish anyway. Most saltwater anglers routinely strip strike anyway. They are great hooks in my opinion
Circle hooks are best suited to live bait. While there are some flies tied with them, I don't really like them. The idea behind circle hooks is that the fish will take the bait, turn away and hold the bait in its mouth. When the line becomes taunt, it will turn the fish's head and set the hook in the corner of its mouth. If you try to set the hook, it will just pull it out of the fishes mouth.
Flies with circle hooks will work on some fast striking fish, but a lot of the time, the fish will realize it has a mouth full of feathers and just spit the hook out before it sets.
