It is early for them to return and we didn't really expect much but a few cutthroat came to play. We hooked a half dozen or so and landed a few. Most of the fish caught went as follows.

The hookup.....

The fight....

The release....

Early morning on the Skagit is, to me, the best way to start the day. Catching a few fish is almost secondary. It was a bit chilly and we were finally driven off the river by a brisk wind. It seemed a bit odd to us to be bundled up, catching fish that usually show up in September on the 1st day of August but not much complaining could be heard.
