About 4 years ago, one Meorial Day I got caught up in a Crappie frenzy, I was catching one on every cast...seriously while wading the edge of a local impoundment.
I had all day, literally to fish...all day...all.
I strated at 6:30 am and was catching and catching. Then I caught a tree, yanked the fly out and it stuck my right forearm...it was still barbed.
I went home, trimmed off the the shank coming too close to the bend, I guess. The hook end simply disappeared into my arm...went back fishing.
Called the DR. the next day. He won't touch it without X-rays...surgical consult, ettc since it's no longer visible..
Taped it up and waited for infection signs, never happened and about 8 months later the remainder came to the surface and popped out.
Don't reccomend my method but I was lucky it worked and never had more than a red pin ***** spot on my arm.
It was a #10 mustad
