    Default Bamboo fly rod

I recently bought an older 8 foot bamboo fly rod . It says xxxxxx(?Etco) "Westkill" tackle. I don't know the weight because it is not on the rod. So how do I determine what weight line to use and does anyone have an idea of what it is worth. I paid $75 for it. The rod blank seems in good condition. Thanks for any input.

I would try posting your question here. http://clarksclassicflyrodforum.yuku.com/directory They live, eat and breath everything bamboo. But just off the top of my head and depending on how much the rod weighs, I would think either a 6, 7 or 8 wt line would work. I have an older 8' boo that weighs 5 3/4 oz. I find it casts best with a 6, but will handle a 5 & 7 as well.

    Hope this helpls.

Try lawn casting with different weight lines. I would start with a 6 wt and work up or down from there.
