July Celebrations
In this morning edition of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, last bastion of liberal news reporting (liberal: Open mind to view points of all readers and writers) I read what upcoming events are happening in the month of July!
July is synonymous with July 4th, when the Declaration of Independence was signed, and is now considered our Country's Birthday. But many of us are unaware of all the other celebrations in July that are so American....
July 1st is "National Build a Scarecrow Day"!
July 2nd is "National I Forget Day"!
July 3rd is "National Stay Out of the Sun Day"!
July 4th is "Tom Sawyer Fence Painting Day", among many other things!
July 5th is "Caribbean Day"!
July 6th is, "National Kissing Day"!
July 7th is National Macaroni Day"!
July 8th is "National Liberty Bell Day", when in 1835 the Liberty Bell got it's crack!
July 9th is "National Sugar Cookie Day"!
July 10th is 'National Clerihew Day", for Sir Humphrey Clerihew who invented this uneven humorous pseudo-biographical verse form similar to limericks ( "Sir Humphrey Davy, Abominated gray. He live in the odium, Of having discovered sodium!)
July 11th is "National Cheer Up the Lonely Day"!
July 12th is "National Paper Bag Day"!
July 13th is "National Embrace Your Geekness Day", "National Fools Paradise Day" & "National Get out of the Skeptics Day"! (Trifecta?)
July 14th is "National Sodbuster Day"!
July 15th is "National Tapioca Pudding Day"!
July 16th is "International Juggling Day" & "National Get Out of the Doghouse Day"!
July 17th is "Wrong Way Corrigan Day" (who in attempting to be the first person to fly non-stop from New York City-to-Paris France, instead ended up in California).!
July 18th is "National Cow Appreciation Day"!
July 19th is "National Ice Cream Day"!
July 20th is "National Zippo (windproof lighters) Day"!
July 21st is "National Tug-of-War Tournament Day "!
July 22nd is "National Rat Catchers Day"!
July 23rd is "National Mosquito Day" (not sure if we are suppose to celebrate or smack them)!
July 24th has nothing listed so you can celebrate something that is not already being celebrated)!
July 25th is "National Threading the Needle Day"!
July 26th is "National All or Nothing Day"!
July 27th is "National Take Your House Plants for a Walk Day"!
July 28th is "National Drive Thru Appreciation Day"!
July 29th is "National Lasagna Day"!
July 30th is "National Mutts Day" (not sure if they mean the National Syndicated Newspaper Cartoon, or the animal)!
July 31st is "National Parents Day"!
July also has week long celebrations.
July 4-10, National Freedom Appreciation Week.
July 6-13, National Cherry Festival Week.
July 8-14, National Laundry Workers Week.
July 8-15, National Air Conditioning Appreciation Week.
July 25-31, National Salad Week.
