About 5 years ago my boss gave me a copy. He was an avid garage sale shopper. the book is a time capsule on fly fishing 70 years ago though it also includes a chapter on bait casting for saltwater fish. Since I thought of Knight as the Solunar guru, I was surprised at his knowledge of fly fishing. His take on fly fishing for Smallmouth Bass in rivers foreshadows Kreh, Whitlock, and Clouser on thee same subject. He favored using his grisle rod for these brawny fighters.

How did they ever do it? Back then the drawn gut leader was state of the art. 0X tested 3-4 lbs at best while 5X broke at less than one pound. It was recently described as fishing with something as strong as wet toilet paper. Now that is sporting.
