    Default Tested The Tackle

Built a 6 1/2 footer on a glass spinning rod blank. Probably about a 3/4. Tied on a #10 Boa Leech.

    Gave us all we wanted.

    28+".. It was a ride.

Tell us more about the new rod! It sounds like something that I would like to try.

You know what guys? Someone here may have to help me out. Danged if I can remember where I got the blank. Several guys on the site were building rods from them and the blanks were dirt cheap (like $13?). I'm thinking they were in a "Trout Series".

It handles a 4 weight line great and while it's certainly not "fast action" it's a joy to cast - and tough, as I put some pretty serious pressure on this fish to keep him out of the brush.

On another note, that's a 1492 Medalist reel my dad bought for me at a flea market for $1. The guy told him he had had it for years. Is there a way to tell "old" from "new" on them?

    thanx...g

I would like to know more about how to build such rod as well. I fished by myself as a kid with a 6' glass. Didn't fish for 50 years. Now can't get used to these things called 9' graphite. I can't feel the loading of the rod. I just got an 8' 7wt glass and it is PERFECT. It is the holy grail of the feel I have been searching for in all the danged rods I have purchased. I would really like to try a 6' glass.....maybe a 3/4 AND a 5/6. I just got a 7'-8" three piece 5wt glass blank off ebay for $8.88 I think it was. There are more available if anyone is interested. I need to build it and test it out. It is a bit off color....it is a chartreuse blank. I am wondering how I can make it a glow in the dark rod.

Anywhoooo.....I would like to build/have a 6-6.5 glass rod for inland trout. But don't know enough about spinning blanks...or how to get the right blank to build one.

So "I" and maybe several others would like to learn from you how you dood it!

    Thanks for the post.
