    Default Back from the Fish-In!

Well, I got up this morning, packed camp and headed back home. It was a great time. We caught a lot of fish, and had a terrific time hanging out with everyone and getting to know some new fly guys from around the area. Everything seemed like it was in bloom, and the fish were biting.
The only real down side was the heat and humidity. It was hot and extremely humid. It was hard to get cooled off, and sleeping was tough at times. We more than made up for that on Saturday night, with a fried fish, goose kabobs, french fries, and dutch oven cobbler. There was enough for everyone to eat their fill, with some left over for later. It was quite a welcome meal after 2 days of roughing it.
A big thanks to everyone who showed up. It was a fun time, and we'll definitely do it again.

Here are some pictures from the trip:

I'll not post too many pictures. There were quite a few cameras there, and we'll have others later.

Loved it! I think I'm going to look into a kayak for myself here sometime before next trip.

After 4 days of primative camping and fly fishing in the Mined Land Access Natural Area in South East Kansas I'm back at work. I have a new float tube because mine split the cover when it over heated, and I need a new 2 weight. Lesson learned Let air out of tube as the day heats up and don't high stick a 2 weight with 3x leader to remove a fly from tree limb! Cabela's came through on the float tube They gave me 20% off a new one when they really didn't have to do that. Now I have a new one! I think I'll repair my other one, and have a spare?

Zac, The kayak is definitely a good idea. I finally got mine off lawaway and out on the water where it belongs. A bunch of fun. I'llhave pictures up on another post in a few minutes so I don't hijack this one.
If it swims and eats, it'll eat a fly.

"Trees in bloom over a pit"...
When the petals start to fall off of those mimosa trees, you might have hungry carp eating them, if there are carp in the lake.
Just a thought for the locals.

It's good to see such a fine trip. I,m sorry I didn't go, but from the weather report it's probably for the best. Here's hoping for fall!
