IMPORTANT WARNING~ before picking up plastic bottle with top on
    IMPORTANT Safety Information!

This just scares the dung out of me. I posted this because as anglers and lovers of our environs, we tend to pick up the trash that idiots leave behind. Don't stop...but please remember this and look a little more carefully before you proceed.

I did check the snopes at the bottom of this page.

Good safety info that I never heard of; be careful and watch the video if you don't believe it.

    1. a plastic bottle with a cap.

    2. a little Drano.

    3. a little water.

    4. a small piece of foil.

    5. Disturb it by moving it; and BOOM!!
    6. No fingers left and other serious effects to your face, eyes, etc.. It's caustic! It burns.

People are finding these bombs in mailboxes and in their yards, just waiting for you to pick it up intending to put it in the trash.
But, you'll never make it!!! It takes about 30 seconds to blow after you move the thing.
    Evil people lurk among us!!

See "SNOPES" below....it's true. This happened, in Michigan, a few days ago...April 27, as a matter of fact.

Just a correction here. Drano is not acid but caustic or strong base.

That's scary. Put's a whole new twist on folks who like to recycle. I wonder how many people have been injured by these bombs left in trash bins or laying around.

What's really shocking is the amount of videos there are on YouTube of this.

My questions is, how do you add the three ingredients, cap it, and set it down without the ingredients mixing enough to detonate? If the ingredients have to be shaken vigorously like in the video, what are the odds when you pick up 'the trash' that you're going to that? This is a serious thing no doubt, but like most of the true things on snopes, they are blown way out proportion.

I imagine there is no need to shake vigorously . That's just done to speed up the process. It can also be done with two Alka Seltzer tabs . Same explosion but much less collateral damage.

The ones in Michigan happened about a mile from me. I've heard of them for years but never seen one. the other one that really packs a punch but take longer to blow is done using dry ice. I've seen the remains of mailboxes after one of these. The shrapnel is the worst part.
