There is a "things wanted" forum just below this one.
I would suggest the Cabela's Three Forks 7 1/2' 3 pc 3 wt. for $50. It casts like a rod costing many times that.

I was going to make the exact same recommendation. I bought one many years ago, based on the thinking that it would be the least used of the many weights and lengths that I have, and consequently would not be worth the kind of expenditure I'd made on other configurations. I repeatedly saw rave reviews for the 7'6" 3 wt. Three Forks and figured it would be hard to go wrong with such a low price and Cabela's satisfaction guarantee. It has been everything that people promised it would be and more, and it looks as if they've even upgraded the appearance and others details since I bought mine. I can't imagine how you'd find anything more satisfying for the price, even if you were to purchase something used that originally retailed for a little more. Best of luck.

If you are looking for a real short 3wt this is a great rod for the money!
I have one and it is a blast for small streams and will cast well enough for mid size streams as well. I typically can make 30 foot casts and I'm not that good of a caster.
I wouldn't waste the money on the reels but love the rods. I have three rods from them now and have had to rely on the warranty twice due to my stupidity.
The tech2 rods are a dream for the cost and has become my go to rod. The 5 1/2 footer is fun on my local spring creek and has landed plenty of trout.

I'm growing very partial to the Echo Carbon 7'5" 3wt. For $169ish new, its hard to beat.
